Q: I have two old Adam Chairs that I want to give new life to. They have wooden frames, fluted legs, and red upholstery. Any suggestions?—Cleng, Malabon

A: The easiest way to update the look of your chairs is to refinish and reupholster them. Go bold and have them painted a bright color, then pair them with a graphic print. Yellow is a popular color right now, but it really is up to you—there are so many colors and fabrics to choose from that you'll surely find a combination you'll like.
