How Can You Successfully Renovate Your Space?

Take note of these tips from architect Love de Leon

When is the right time to renovate the home? While you can always work on simple repairs and minor home improvement projects, there will come a time when major changes are no longer inevitable. Do you see major damages in the floors and ceiling? Do not be afraid to renovate your space as you can embark on this journey wisely.

Architect Love de Leon shares professional advice to help you avoid ballooning costs and other problems:

Plan smartly

The first step that you need to take would be to finalize the designs with your professional consultant. Prior to renovation, you need to discuss paint colors, sample tiles, fabrics, and finishes so that you can visualize the outcome of the project. Accomplishing this before the renovation starts can avoid delays and unnecessary changes.

Consider the post-renov cleanup

“One of the most crucial things you should consider in your budget is the hauling of debris,” says the architect. Allot extra budget for the hauling of debris—especially if your unit is located in a higher level. This applies if you're going to change the existing cabinets, ceiling, floor, and wall tiles. Consider the time for the hauling as well. "During that period, you will start to incur expenses even when there's no work accomplished yet," Love explains.

Invest in quality materials

When it comes to choosing materials and fixtures for the home, source electrical supplies from reputable stores and distributors. This will save you from having to worry about whether or not your property is energy-efficient and free from fire hazards.

Splurge on quality plumbing fixtures, pipes, and fittings as well to avoid water leaks.
