In every home, bathroom safety should be the top priority, especially if you have kids. Whether you are giving a bath to your infant or toddler, you must childproof your bathroom to avoid any unwanted accidents.

Keep your bathroom clean and safe with the help of these tips.

Keep these tips in mind:
  • Add non-skid rugs by the side of your tub or shower to prevent falls or slips. Opt for a colored non-slip mat to add a chic accent to your bathroom. (Learn how to create your own bathrug here.)
  • Keep all electrical appliances such as curling irons and blow dryers away from bathtubs and sinks. As much as possible, keep it on the topmost level of the storage shelf to avoid accidents.
  • Keep cabinets with sharp objects locked.
  • Put rubber mat liners with suction cups on your shower or bathtub’s floor. This will provide traction and help prevent accidental falls.
  • If you have open sockets near your sink, add a plastic socket protector. Remember, water is a conductor of electricity, so you must be mindful of your electric sockets to avoid electrocution.
  • Install safety bars near your shower or tub, which your toddler can occasionally hold on to while taking a bath. (Click here for more maintenance tips.)
  • Do not leave sharp objects such as scissors, tweezers, and nail clippers within your child’s reach.
  • Place the cleaning and beauty products like soaps, shampoos, and conditioners out of children's reach. (Learn a couple of cabinet organizing tips here.)
