7 More Gates And Fences In Different Styles

Whether you like tropical styles or classical lines, try to match your gate and fence to your house

Gates and fences are often overlooked when building a house. Homeowners are usually busy fussing over the façade’s design and the interiors, and so their house’s surroundings become an afterthought.

But your gate and fence are essential to the overall design of your home, and should ideally reflect the design of its exterior and even its interiors. Here are some examples of homeowners and designers who’ve made the perfect gate-to-house match.

Wood & metal

Actors Eddie Gutierrez and Anabelle Rama’s tropical gate and fence matches their tropical-modern house. This look can be achieved by using ficem (fiber-cement) boards in faux wood finish inserted into a wrought iron frame.

Green wall & araal stone

Bordering this Cavite vacation home’s pool is a living green wall and a wall fountain made out of araal. Architect Arlene Maslog designed it this way to give the area a resort-like feel.

Pale beauty

Architect Mark Siapno matched his white, modernist house with an all-white gate and fence. The linear design of the driveway and pedestrian gates echo the modern lines of this beautiful, renovated house.

Classic curves

Ornate curves and designs can be seen in the wrought iron-and-cement fence and gate of Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla’s contemporary-Mediterranean house in Quezon City. The lines of the fence are similar to the classical ornamentation seen inside the house.

Antique adobe

Designer Michelle Dumlao chose beautiful adobe stone for the fence of the Reyes residence to match the bahay-na-bato theme of their house. Adobe was traditionally used in Spanish-colonial houses and churches.

Zen simplicity

Actress Iza Calzado’s home has a low-key frontage as seen by the simple, white concrete fence and a small, Japanese-style pedestrian gate. The Zen theme is further enhanced by the addition of bamboo reed fencing.

Modern & linear

The homeowners renovated this Sta. Rosa house after it was damaged by Typhoon Glenda. They opted for a streamlined, modern fence without any ornamentation, and paired it with a grid-design iron gate.
