Natural Granite

Natural Granite countertops are known for their durability and resistance to heat, scratches, and stains. However, they come in limited sizes and are they quite expensive. If you’re on a budget, opt for synthetic granite.

Plastic Laminate

“Plastic laminate is a budget-friendly material for your countertop,” shares interior designer Kathlyn Villapando. It can also be used as backsplash and material for cabinets. Since it is artificial, it may peel easily and may not stand the test of time.

Stainless Steel

If you're going for an industrial look, stainless steel countertops are the best option. These are easy to fabricate and clean.

RL Tip: Be extra cautious when using steel as a material since it's a conductor and may cause burns. Refrain from placing appliances on top of it.

Solid Acrylic

Solid acrylic is easy to clean and does not break easily. Avoid placing heated appliances on top of it as it can thin from prolonged use.

Ceramic Tiles

The best thing about ceramic tiles is that they are heat and water resistant. They also come in different shapes, colors, and patterns that can easily be customized according to your kitchen's overall style. Since ceramic tiles are prone to grout and bacteria accumulation, make sure that you regularly clean and maintain your countertop.

Butcher Block

Although expensive, this solid wood surface can last a lifetime! It is often used for good island countertops. When cleaning, be sure that you avoid using vinegar as it has properties that can remove the block's finish.
