5 Stylish Kid-Friendly Spaces
You don’t have to replace everything with unsightly plastic furniture!
It’s hard to maintain a stylish home when you have kids around. You forego vases and tabletop accessories because they might break and injure your little ones. You even ditch your area rug and cover the floor with rubber mats instead. However, you don't have to do all these! Achieve a stylish home that's kid-friendly as well. Here are tips to keep in mind:
1. Make a cozy living area.
Instead of using several ottomans or accent chairs, use several floor pillows instead. Position them around your coffee table so your kids can sit comfortably on them as they enjoy a round of Scrabble or Snakes and Ladders.
2. Create playing nooks around the house.
Incorporate your kids’ games and activities into your interiors by leaving a bag or basket of toys in lounging areas like the lanai. This will also teach your kids to put back their toys where they got them right after playtime.
3. Forego the coffee table.
If you have a small space and a coffee table will limit your kids’ movement, ditch it. Instead, keep the center of your living area from looking bare by covering it with a boldly patterned area rug. This way, your kids can freely play on the floor.
4. Do away with furniture with sharp or pointed corners.
Square and rectangular glass tables are common culprits for bumps and cuts. Go for round furniture instead. If you want glass-topped tables, opt for tempered glass.
5. Make furniture appealing to kids.
Let your little ones appreciate the furniture in your house by painting them in bright colors. These batibot chairs, for example, don’t look too grownup thanks to fresh coats of blue and yellow paint.
