5 Simple Ways To Create Cozy Spots At Home

It can be as easy as adding a fluffy rug at the foot of the bed!

Who doesn’t want to cuddle up in a corner while reading a book, sketching, or writing on a journal? Cozy corners provide a somewhat private and quiet spot where you can do simple but relaxing activities. Here are some ideas on how you can make one:

1. Repurpose an old bed and make it a daybed.

This is what couple Vince and Frances Sales did to Vince’s old bed. They added throw pillows to jazz it up and make it comfortable for lounging around.

2. Floor pillows and cushions are your best friends.

Even if this spot beside the bed is narrow, it became a cozy spot thanks to an area rug and floor pillows. Natural light coming in from the window is a welcome bonus.

3. Mix different seating pieces.

Interior designer Wilan Dayrit furnished this attic-turned-entertainment room with a couch with a wide seat, ottomans, and a comfy lounge chair. The warm lighting also adds to the cozy ambiance.

4. Add a fluffy area rug.

Makeup artist Robbie Pinera did just that at the foot of his bed. Sitting on the floor has never been more comfy.

5. Squeeze in a reading nook at a well-lit corner.

A reading nook doesn’t always have to be made up of a wing chair and a footstool. Any chair that is comfortable to sit on will do. Add a floor lamp for additional lighting—especially when you love to read at night.
