5 Practical Ideas For Children's Rooms

No need to get stressed when creating a beautiful space for your little one

If you have children, you always want to give them the best, especially when you’re giving them their own space in your house. But you don’t have to bring in a mini castle, build a slide, or put glow-in-the-dark wall decor to do this. A few practical ideas are all you need. Here are some you can work on:

1. Create a gender-neutral nursery.

In this room, robins egg blue walls and white furniture and accessories create a youthful look that can last even if the baby reaches pre-school or even grade school. Simply change the crib to a full-size bed then retain the color scheme as well as the other furniture and decor.

2. Let your child’s favorite color dominate his room.

It is not advisable to deck the whole bedroom of your child with cartoon character decor and novelty items, as these will be discarded when he grows out of this phase. However, a room that sports his favorite color bears a stamp of his personality and he won’t get tired of it anytime soon.

3. Experiment with grownup themes.

If your kids like a theme that looks grownup, let them have it. In this bedroom, the girl occupant likes Moroccan elements. Interior designer Nina Santamaria of Grupo Santamaria Interior Design let her have it by way of a daybed with canopy and jewel-toned pillows.

4. Create an L-shaped furniture layout in small rooms.

If your kids share a room and you don’t want a bunk bed for them, you can place their beds perpendicular to each other against the wall, thus forming an L. Spice up the look with beddings in bold colors.

5. Go symmetrical.

If your kids share a room, you can also have identical elements on both of their sides of the bed. Here in this bedroom, the identical beds, similar bed linen, and almost the same side tables and decor exude a sophisticated feel. With this look, the kids can still appreciate their bedroom even if they grow older.
