5 Ideas to Steal from 5 Small Bedrooms

A few square meters can be as fancy as a hotel room

After a long day at work, I always look forward to coming home to my bedroom. It’s not that big but it has everything that I need–shelves of books, a working TV, and an electric fan. Of course, I also make sure that my bed is clean and that the sheets are changed every two weeks.

How about you? What makes your private space unique? Aside from keeping it cozy and relaxing, I’m sure that you also make it a point to style or decorate it with the things that you love and cherish. If you have a small space to work with, this shouldn’t stop you from creating a space that you would also love to come home to. Take inspiration from these spaces and keep in mind these ideas:

Work on the walls

If you live in a studio unit, you can define your sleeping space by using wallpaper. It can also serve as your faux headboard. Choose one with an interesting print that blends well with your space's color scheme. I would personally opt for a floral print or something that depicts nature and the outdoors for a soothing effect.

Pair white with refreshing touches

This bedroom combines unexpected touches that create a calming haven. Two vertical mirrors are used to have an illusion of bigger space while the subway tile headboard is an interesting choice.

If these elements won't work in your space, choosing an all-white palette can keep the bedroom airy and inviting. Add a vase of fresh flowers for a refreshing touch. You can also place a tray with scented candles to achieve a hotel-like ambiance.

Go for a style statement

Who says a small bedroom can't receive a full design treatment? Style it with a customized cushioned headboard–similar to the one seen in the photo, a lamp, an area rug, and a side table that can also work as a work area.

Choose clever storage solutions

A combination of white and wooden elements can instantly create a relaxing feel that's perfect for a good night's sleep. Your bed can occupy one side of the room so you can still add a small side table and a slim work desk.

For your storage concerns, you can choose a customized bed with drawers underneath or baskets that you can easily store under the bed.

Experiment with prints

Like what we always say, a limited area shouldn't stop you from showcasing your collections, passions, and style. You can decorate the wall behind the bed with your chosen prints and wall accents. Choose curtains with cute prints. Keep a balanced look by choosing white sheets and pillows.
