Get ready to go out and enjoy the sunshine and cool breeze

A lanai, a balcony, or a pocket garden—who wouldn't love to have one of these at home? Aside from serving as an extension of your living spaces, they are also perfect for when you just want to lounge around with a book or a glass of cool, refreshing juice. Give these spaces some love by choosing stylish furniture pieces and accessories. Here are some tips on how you can make your outdoor spaces more appealing:

1. Use furniture made of natural materials.

Wicker chairs and woven floor pillows are your best bets. They make your outdoor space summery all year long. Make the space cozy by adding pillows, throws, and seat cushions.

2. Or go for unconventional outdoor furniture.

If you’re not a fan of wicker or woven furniture, try retro or vintage pieces. Leather details and a glass tabletop make this outdoor area a standout, while plants give it life.

3. Stun your guests with a Jacuzzi.

Yes, you read that right. The outdoor Jacuzzi in this lanai takes the cake, redefining the word “relaxation.” And with plants around the area, this space is truly an oasis.

4. Create a table-and-bench setup for parties.

The outdoor area makes for a great space for entertaining, whether it’s a children’s party or a backyard cookout. Spice it up by using colorful glasses and tableware, and decorate the space with colorful, DIY mobiles. Flowering plants are also nice additions.

5. Carve out a pocket garden.

If you live in a townhouse and you have no space to allot for a lanai, consider having a pocket garden, like what interior designer Wilan Dayrit did in this townhouse. Instead of grass, cover the ground with garden rocks, add potted plants, and place a daybed. Cozy up by adding throw pillows.
