5 Easy and Stylish Ideas For Your Kids' Rooms

Whether they like it simple or colorful, there's a tip or two for you

Whipping up themed rooms for your kids isn’t the only way to give them a space they will enjoy. Even simple ideas will do. Here are some you can work on:

1. Do away with unnecessary accessories and patterns.

Even if this bedroom has plain walls and beddings, it isn’t boring. Robins egg blue walls make the space look airy, while the brown Roman shades create contrast. White duvets make the beds cozy and inviting.

2. Deconstruct store-bought furniture to make it fit in the room.

Feel free to disassemble a furniture piece to suit your children’s needs. In this bedroom, a bunk bed was deconstructed to follow the room’s layout and to accommodate a small desk underneath. As a result, the space was maximized.

3. Don’t be afraid to use strong colors.

Yes, you can give your kids’ room a simple look, but it doesn’t mean you should hold back on color, especially if your kids want it. This little girl’s room couldn’t be more girly, thanks to its carnation pink walls. It was, however, made a bit sophisticated by way of a pink, chevron-patterned chair and a chest of drawers in a color-blocking style. Find a similar chest of drawers at Heima.

4. Decorate with unconventional accessories.

Do you have a tween or a teen? Make her room different by using decor that can also be used in a grown-up’s room, like abstract paintings and colorful throw pillows. An accent chair and a pouf can also be added to create a cozy reading nook.

5. Experiment with patterns.

Decking your kid’s room with patterns is an instant way of giving the space personality. Interior designer Van Acuna Solana did just that in this bedroom, where she mixed different floral patterns alongside bright shades of blue, green, and hot pink.
