5 Different Shades Of Brown You Can Try

Light brown isn't your only option

Brown is a flexible color, as all neutrals are. But if black is known for adding a moody ambiance, browns can add a warm and earthy feel. Here are some shades and tones you can work with:

1. Tortilla

It’s not just a yummy snack. Tortilla can make a room look like a hotel so it is a relaxing color to have in a bedroom. Pair it with white or light-colored linens to preserve the calming atmosphere.

2. Pecan and cinnamon

These shades of brown with a tinge of red make a space warm and feel earthy. Throw in some bejeweled accessories like the gold throw pillows seen in this living area, so the space won’t look flat. Add some texture, too, like a sisal rug or a mirror with intricate details.

3. Mid- to dark brown and light beige

Interior designer Lisa Salvador combined these light and dark shades in this living area. The light beige sofa balances the dark, coffee-colored walls that were hand-finished. The bamboo cabinet adds texture and brings in a natural element. A pop of orange by way of a throw pillow livens up the space.

4. Wood finishes

There’s no need to put a name on all shades of brown—the wood they’re made of can do the job for you. In this bedroom, the dark, kamagong bed is completed with lighter wood finishes on the wood and on the floor. The dominance of wood in this area makes you think of a bedroom in your lola’s house in the province.

5. Dark browns

If you want a moody vibe but find black too strong, consider dark browns. In this TV room, the chocolate brown couch, along with other deep shades of brown, exude a masculine vibe. Touches of gray and whites balance out the dark color palette, while the reddish-brown shag rug adds texture.
