5 Condo Living Areas You'd Love To Copy

Make it cozy no matter its size

With condo units getting smaller and smaller, sometimes, the living area already gets mixed with other areas of the unit, like the dining area. But if you want to have a separate living area for when you want to watch TV or for when you have guests, you can still do so. Here are some ideas:

1. Use minimal furniture pieces.

In this living area designed by interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo, a boxy, two-seater sofa and a clean-lined coffee table are the stars. Adding an accent chair is optional if you still have enough space. Have similar pieces custom-made at Urban Abode.

2. Squeeze it under the stairs.

If you have a bi-level condo unit, maximize the spot below your stairs. Make it a cozy living area by furnishing it with clean-lined upholstered pieces and several throw pillows. Add some indoor plants to give it life.

3. Stick to a color scheme.

This will keep your small living area from looking busy. Define the area using a rug or a different flooring material. Let upholstered pieces dominate the space to make it inviting.

4. Situate it near a window.

Nothing can be more welcoming than a space flooded with natural light. Place your living area on this spot. Ditch the divider or open shelves as partition—a sectional sofa can define the area just as well.

5. Place it beside a floor-to-ceiling mirror.

Using mirrors to visually expand a space is a well-known design trick. And when you often entertain guests, you’ll definitely give a beautiful impression with a living area that doesn’t look cramped.
