Proper lighting and the right countertop are just some of the needed ingredients

What inspires you to cook delicious meals for the family? Aside from receiving good reviews from friends and family, nothing beats seeing their smiles after each meal. If you've always wanted an efficient kitchen where you can work around freely, you need to make sure that you have enough space and proper accessories.

Just like your award-winning adobo or crowd favorite dessert, an ideal kitchen requires quality "ingredients" too. Interior designer Wilan Dayrit enumerates the non-negotiables in a working kitchen:

Work with materials that are easy to clean

The kitchen is prone to spills, stains, and mess! A white countertop is ideal for the preparation of ingredients.

Opt for white lights

Proper lighting is important in any kitchen so you can see food in its natural color. This will also help you check the ingredients and ensure proper measurements.

Finalize the layout of your kitchen

Determine the perfect layout for you and your space by knowing your workflow. What do you usually do first when you cook? Section the areas based on activities like dishwashing, preparation, and actual cooking.

Have ample storage

Given the numerous utensils and ingredients, you shouldn't scrimp on storage. Maximize cabinets and shelves and invest in containers! By having the right storage solutions, you won't mix up your cooking tools and essentials.
