3 Ways To Work With White
Check out these tips on how to complement this beloved neutral
White is the go-to color if you want your space to be maaliwalas. However, this color (or should we say, non-color) has the danger of making a space drab and clinical. Keep this from happening with these tips:
1. White with white
An all-white space, coupled with natural light, is automatically synonymous with bright and airy. Add warmth by way of wooden or parquet flooring, and up the glam factor with a chandelier, like this bathroom and walk-in closet.
2. White with pastels
If you want a sweet look for your space, complement a white space with pastels. Balance these sweet colors by keeping other furniture in the area neutral, as seen in this breakfast nook with a corner banquette and two pastel-hued Windsor chairs. Ground the space with wooden elements like additional wooden furniture or flooring. Your floor doesn’t have to be hardwood—you can choose from a variety of substitutes like engineered wood, laminates, or ceramic tiles with wood design.
3. White with patterns
Because white is a blank canvas, you are free to mix different design elements with it, like a play of materials and patterns. This living area is a merry hodgepodge of upholstered furniture, a patterned area rug, accent chairs, and bold colors seen on the tabletop accessories and purple side table. Given this mix, the area does not look busy! Cop the same look for your space by balancing plain and patterned and neutral and colorful pieces when decorating.
