Some may wonder why many homeowners prefer to have industrial style kitchens. Others think that it’s a bit raw for a space that’s associated with warmth and home cooked meals or that it's only meant for commercial establishments. But if you think about it, since it features concrete finishes and exposed details, an industrial kitchen can be easier to maintain and decorate, too!

If you’ve been thinking about having this style for your own cooking space, keep in mind these helpful tips from interior designer Peaches de Guzman-Grey:

Choose the right set of tiles

Brick walls add a distinct charm to a kitchen as these can immediately remind you of your favorite coffee shop or dessert place. However, bricks tend to absorb grease and oil, making it difficult to clean and maintain. If you really want to have bricks in the kitchen, you can opt for subway tiles that resemble bricks. Since there's a high demand for subway tiles lately, you can visit the nearest hardware store or home depot to inquire about prices and availability.

Try concrete finishes

“When decorating an industrial-themed kitchen, you can opt for polished concrete as it is easier to maintain,” says Peaches. Since these finishes usually come in a dark gray scheme, pair it with the right accessories and furniture to achieve balance in the space. Keep it clean without looking too bare.

Go for dark hues

When choosing a color scheme for your industrial kitchen, you can opt for a combination of dark colors. “[To complete the look] balance blacks with light grays or whites,” suggests Peaches. You can also use accent colors such as red or orange as these colors can whet the appetite and kickstart a conversation.
