3 Quick Fixes for Wood Furniture

Restore the beauty of your pieces with these easy hacks

If you've had your wooden furniture for years, we can only guess that the pieces have a few stains and signs of wear and tear. Although some would prefer to keep these marks (since the weathered look is starting to gain a following recently), it's still essential that you practice proper care and maintenace.

Check your lovely pieces and keep in mind these tips:

For water stains

Many homeowners sometimes forget to use coasters when enjoying refreshments at home. This results in noticeable white circles that won't be solved by a dry cloth. Use lemon oil and leave it overnight. You'll notice that the stains will lighten. You can also rewax the surface of your table using mineral oil if you think that it needs more polishing.

For coffee stains

Sometimes, spills are inevitable—especially if you are enjoying hot drinks! Remove the stains with the help of distilled white vinegar. Pour a few drops of the vinegar onto the stain, then blot the area with paper towels. Since vinegar has acidic properties, it can dissolve the coffee stains without affecting your wood's texture.

For scratches

The best way to deal with scratches is through proper polishing. Pick a shade that is close to your table's finish and lightly dab it onto the surface until the scratches disappear. If you feel like the shade is too light or too dark, remove the polish using mineral oil, then start again.
