Your choice for the size of an area rug is simply decided by the dimensions of the open area of the floor you plan to place it on," shares interior designer Van Acuna. Used on hallways and stairways, runners are usually 2’x6’, but they can be as long as the space requires. They can make your hardwood floors less slippery, and minimize the noise of clacking heels or stomping feet on hallways and stairways.
