A 24sqm Unit for a Pastry Chef in Makati

The Philippine School of Interior Design graduating students chose pastel colors for this small home

What can you do with a 24sqm homeThe Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) graduating students explore the possibilities through Studio 24, an interior design exhibit with 24 different units that measure 24 square meters each.

One of the 24 spaces is a studio unit with a French Provincial style for a pastry chef. Here are the 5 things that we liked the best in this bachelorette pad:

The Open Space

Graduating students Roxanne Roxas, Katrina Balagtas, Patricia Ciron, and Joanna Sarmiento were able to make the 24sqm home appear bigger than it really is.

The open layout, light colors, and furniture placed against the walls make the studio unit seem airy and spacious.

The Crystal Chandeliers

We also immediately noticed the fabulous crystal chandeliers in the living and sleeping areas! These lighting fixtures add a glamorous touch to the small space.

The Wall-mounted Shelves

In our other features on the different PSID exhibits, we mentioned the different ways to separate the areas in the studio unit. For example, you can use an area rug, accent wall, or ceiling treatment to mark the living area.

Another way to distinguish the living area from the rest of the space is to install wall-mounted shelves! These shelves frame the living area and also serve as a nifty storage option.

The Charming Kitchen and Dining Area

Since the homeowner is a pastry chef, it is important for her to have a beautiful kitchen and dining area. The students rose to the challenge by designing a classic and traditional space that could easily belong in any country home in France.

The Dainty Color of the Kitchen Cabinets

We also love the color of the kitchen cabinets! If you think that white is too boring and pink is too sweet, duck egg blue could be perfect for you. It is a greenish blue shade ideal for any home.

Studio 24 will run from October 3 to 31, 2015 at the Ronac Lifestyle Center, Paseo de Magallanes, Makati City. Admission is free.
