5 Simple Bathroom Upgrades You'd Love To Try

Turn your morning routine into a one-of-a-kind experience with these fun tweaks

If the kitchen is the business center of the home, and the bedroom is a sacred place for rest—the bathroom is made for rejuvenation. We use it for many things—it's where we get ready in the morning, prep for important occasions or relax after a long shift at work—so it is only fitting that we keep it pretty and functional, too. To help you make the most of it, here are some things you can try:

1. Hang a sprig of eucalyptus in your shower.

Do you ever wonder why spas hang eucalyptus sprigs in shower rooms? According to an article by Organic Facts, it has strong de-stressing properties. Like lavender and sandalwood, its aroma acts as a stimulant that can instantly relieve mental exhaustion and when combined with steam from a hot bath, its effects are amplified—thereby relaxing and rejuvenating the mind.

2. Make a DIY ocean bath mat.

If you love taking long walks on surf-tumbled beaches, you'd be glad to know that walking on cobblestone stimulates acupressure points which are connected to various energy meridians of the body. Since we can't go on a getaway everyday, an ocean bath mat is the next best thing. Standing on it during bath time can even decrease blood pressure and improve balance for adults over 60 years old!

3. Sweeten up your T&B decor with pastel colors.

It's a bit unusual to see soft and sweet shades in a small space, isn't it? That's exactly why you should do it! If pink is a little too dainty for your taste, use it in small amounts through frames and prints. You can inject a few metallic pieces for a hipster vibe, too!

4. Brighten the room with pops of neon.

If you like unusual hues, you may want to explore shades that will give the room a much-needed energy boost. Create an illusion of space by working on a striped wall pairing white and neon yellow. To avoid overdecorating your bath, stick to simple and neutral fixtures.

5. Try something completely new.

The word 'rustic' is rarely associated with the bathroom in terms of interior design, but that doesn't mean you can't try it. This type of decor looks best when you're working with organic materials like wood, stone, and steel. However, if you want something more subtle, you can change the knobs and fixtures to retro-inspired pieces to create a space that's reminiscent of a country home.
