5 Ideas to Steal from an American Country-Style House

Spruce up your space with tips and tricks inspired by this family home

Some villages have particular themes so that the houses would look similar to each other. For example, a subdivision has a charming American suburban theme. This means that every house in the community has a country-inspired feel and is awash in blue, pink, or yellow paint.

Inspired by the theme of this village, former Real Living creative director and interior decorator Gwyn Guanzon chose an American country style for the interiors of this family home. He furnished every room with dark wood pieces with leather details.

Here are five decorating ideas that we can learn from this warm and welcoming haven:

Furnish your outdoor area

When it comes to the design of your home, first impressions always last! A beautiful spot near the entrance of your space can set the mood for the rest of your place.

For your own outdoor area, you may want to pick out a simple white bench topped with floral throw pillows. Complete the space with a potted plant on a ceramic Chinese stool.

Purchase rustic decor

You should also look for quaint and simple decor for the different rooms in your home. For example, for this living area, the interior decorator chose a wooden wall clock and decor. He also chose throw pillows with different floral patterns for the L-shaped sectional sofa.

RL Tip: How can you choose the right floral-print pillows? Look for pieces that have different prints but similar colors like blue, green, and brown.

Look for leather details

Instead of choosing plain wooden furniture, you may want to find pieces with leather details such as leather seats or leather stitching. A few leather touches can make every piece look and feel extra special.

RL Tip: You may also want to replace a traditional crystal chandelier with quaint pendant lamps!

Define a corner with wallpaper

Another way to instantly spruce up your space is to put up floral-print wallpaper! A dainty pattern can brighten up a place and put a smile on your face.

RL Tip: If you don't have the time or the energy to put up wallpaper, you may want to look for wall stickers or wall decals. We like the wide range of choices available at Bling Ding, SM Megamall! Visit their Facebook page for more details.

Choose powder blue walls

If you think white walls are too plain and boring, you may want to opt for a light blue shade. A powder blue hue can also make your place seem tranquil and peaceful.
