5 Ideas to Steal from a 38sqm Loft-Type Condo

Let this Quezon City home inspire you to improve your own place

Interior Designer: Jean Suzanne Sy

What are the things that renters look for in a rented home? Most people look for an easily accessible space that they can rent at an affordable rate! Since there are already a lot of different condo units to choose from, renters would be more likely to pick a place that looks good and seems comfortable.

To make their 38sqm condo in Quezon City that much more appealing to possible renters, the homeowners asked interior designer Jean Suzanne Sy to step in. Suzanne rose to the challenge by choosing a cool gray-and-white palette and rustic-industrial details.

If you are planning to spruce up a home-for-rent or your own personal haven, here are the 5 things that you can learn from this loft-type unit:

Stay on neutral ground

If you are planning to offer the place up for rent, you may want to stick to neutral colors. You can choose paint colors, furniture pieces, and other details in white, gray, or blue.

Opt for sleek metal dining chairs

Instead of classic and traditional fully upholstered dining chairs, you can opt for modern pieces. These look hip, trendy, and stylish. More importantly, their slim lines and slender forms can help make a small dining area seem bigger than it really is.

RL Tip: You can look for secondhand chairs at garage sales and thrift shops! You may want to search for pieces online or drop by the row of furniture stores along Evangelista St. in Bangkal, Makati City.

Replace curtains with blinds

For a cool and unexpected look, you can swap fabric curtains with window blinds. Light gray window blinds can add an industrial feel to your kitchen and dining area.

invest in white bed linen

Have you ever noticed that beds in hotel rooms are completed with white pillow cases and bed sheets? For a classy, sophisticated, and luxurious feel in your own private haven, you can also dress your bed in white! You can pair your new bed linen with a blanket or bed cover that has a playful gray-and-white geometric pattern.

Display your photos and memorabilia

If you want to make a home-for-rent more interesting, you can make your own clothesline-inspired photo wall. You can attach strings to two pieces of wood and hang the finished product above the bed. Use small wooden pegs or sipit to show off notes, pictures, and other bits and pieces.

RL Tip: You may also want to simply tape the strings to the wall! Just make it look nice and artsy for a one-of-a-kind look.
