When was the first time that you felt like a responsible adult? Many of us felt all grown up when we received our first paycheck, paid our first electric bill, or invested in our first home!

For example, in the case of homeowners Val and Arlene Castaneda, everything changed when they finally purchased, furnished, and decorated their own house in Taguig City. If you are also planning to start a new chapter in your life soon, you may want to check out the design ideas inspired by this couple's 183sqm haven:

Begin with the living area

Since the living area is usually the first thing that you see when you open the front door, you should pay close attention to this particular space! You can start with a sofa, accent chair, coffee table, and an area rug.

For this living area, Val and Arlene chose a leather sofa with throw pillows from Space Encounters, a faux cowhide rug from Make Room & More, and a side table from Make It Up. Arlene shares that she purchased the side table after seeing it in Real Living.

Create an eclectic dining area

After the living area, people spend most of their time in the dining area. This is especially true for people who love to cherish good food with their family and friends.

For your own dining area, you may want to pair a wooden dining table with Eames-inspired chairs! You can also choose a Chinese cabinet with a fun and playful shade. As a fitting final touch, you can complete your set-up with a Neo-baroque black chandelier.

Furnish your dirty kitchen

If you think that your dining area may seem too formal, you may want to create an informal dining set-up in the dirty kitchen. An informal dining set-up is great for enjoying breakfast or lunch on your own. You can complement a simple wooden dining table with a few interesting stools.

Keep the bedroom simple

Furnishing your bedroom doesn't have to be that expensive! You should simply choose a bed, floor lamp, and an area rug. Instead of leaving your dirty clothes lying on the bedroom floor, you may want to choose a wovem hamper similar to this one.

For this bedroom, the homeowners chose a queen-size bed from Blims Fine Furniture and a floor lamp from Triboa Bay Living.

Make the most of a room entrance

Instead of leaving the entrance to a room bare and empty, you can turn it into a mini work and study area! Simply furnish it with a desk, a chair and a few shelves.
