If you’re on Instagram (who isn’t these days), you’ve probably seen countless vacation photos, selfies, and of course, flatlays. This type of photo became popular a few years back when celebs and influencers started posting them to show off products, accessories, or even everyday items around the house. If you’re looking to step up your flatlay game and your IG feed, look no further—here are 5 snaps from local celebs to give you some major inspiration!

Don’t be afraid to use different textures

Take a cue from artist-actress Heart Evangelista by mixing and matching textures to create a sophisticated table-setting-turned-flatlay. The result is an absolutely chic photo ready for us to double tap on IG.

Include interesting prints or photos

You might think of it as cheating, but adding a print or photo to your flatlay can take it to the next level. Bonus points if it’s something you’re currently reading or inspired by. Take for example this snap by Nadine Lustre. Isn’t it straight out of a staycationer’s dream?

Tell a story

Going on a date or getting ready for a getaway? Show off your visual storytelling skills by making a flatlay composed of items connected to the activity you’re doing. Just look at this pic Coleen Garcia posted on date night!

Play with bright colors

This pic by Kim Jones is just composed of food, but doesn’t it look straight out of a fashion magazine? Even your daily lunch can look this stunning if you find the perfect bright backdrop for it.

Pick a palette and stick with it

When in doubt, a neutral palette can always work, and in Isabelle Daza’s case, bring in the IG likes. Pick one piece you really want to show off and work from there, selecting only items in complementary tones. Take a snap, post it to IG, and wait for your friends to “love” it!
