Keep these tips in mind:

Consider safety

"When building your new bathroom, your first priority is safety," interior designer Peaches de Guzman shares. Install grab bars within the shower area to assist kids and elderly during bath time as well as to avoid any slips. You may also consider having an enclosed water closet for privacy.

Maximize storage

"The best layout for a family bathroom is one that has a lot of storage that are easy to reach," Peaches says. Organize your shampoo bottles and tissue papers properly in an easy access shelf under the sink or even inside the medicine cabinet.

Place non skid rugs

Place non skid rugs by the tub or shower to avoid accidents. You may even use this piece as instant accent! Choose one with an interesting pattern or colorful design to serve as decor.

Take note of sockets and where you place appliances

If you have open sockets near your sink, make sure you cover it with a plastic socket protector when not in use. Unplug appliances once you're done using them and keep them organized inside cabinets and drawers.

RL Tip: Make sure you keep essentials such as curling irons and blow dryers away from bathtubs and sinks. Click here for more tips on bathroom safety.
