4 Space-Saving Furniture Tips for Your Home
Enhance your space with these tried-and-tested techniques
Limited spaces can make it hard for us to look for the right furniture piece that can fit in the available floor area. If you're still looking for ways on how to effectively make the most of your space, interior designer Gaille Vergara-Bautista shares a few handy hints that you can do:
Use stools and benches to act as side tables
Ottoman seats and stools are smaller and more flexible compared to armchairs or couches. Line up your ottomans to form a long bench that cam serve as extra seating space in your living area. You can also use storage ottomans to serve dual purposes: seating and storage.
Pick a round table
A round table can save more space compared to a rectangular one! Locate your round table in the corner of the room and make sure that its distance from the wall is at least one chair from the back of the chair to the wall.
Not enough countertop space in your small kitchen? Utilize stainless steel glass racks, pot holders, and other organizers to elevate your kitchen items and free up your workspace. According to Gaille, a counter set along one wall is also good for small spaces.
Pick bold pieces
“A small space can assume any style with customizing—in terms of sizes of furniture, careful selection of patterns, and smart use of color,” explains Gaille. If you’re having trouble shopping for the right piece, opt for custom-made furniture. This is the practical choice for condo dwellers given the limited amount of floor space.
