3 Things to Avoid in the Entryway

Create a welcoming vibe by solving these dilemmas with a few storage tricks

If you are asked to describe how your entryway looks like, what would be the first three things that will come to mind? We're guessing it's a mix of shoes, shoe racks, a table, and a few pieces that can't fit inside the house.

Remember, first impressions last. Since the entryway is the first thing that visitors will see, you need to make sure that it's organized and inviting. You can achieve this goal by avoiding these three common problems:

Scattered shoes

ost of us have the habit of leaving shoes by the door. You don't want a pile of shoes as part of your welcoming committee, right? Keep these pairs in place by having a shoe rack where you can place and organize your shoes, slippers, and boots. Worried about space? There are slim shelves and racks that won't take up too much floor space. You can also consider using stackable containers.

Lack of storage options

The entryway can serve as your home's command center where all members of the family can find what they need in a snap. You can keep IDs, loose change, and other essentials there so that each one can grab what he or she needs before leaving the home.

Keep the area neat by investing in the right storage pieces. Aside from the shoe rack, you may also place a small cabinet there to hold bags and extra shoes, an umbrella rack, and a table that can hold catchalls. Having storage options can help avoid clutter and a cramped space.

Lack of stools or an extra chair

Since we often wear shoes by the door, it's best to have a small stool so that we can sit down and get ready for school or work. Aside from a sturdy chair, you may also want to place a mirror so that you can do last minute touch ups before heading out.
