You Can Triple Your Storage Space for Less Than P1,000

Your thick comforter doesn't have to hog all the space in your linen drawer.

Remember the first time you bought a pillow? It came flat, thin, all squished up—and it probably amazed you when you took it out of the plastic bag and it “inflated” back to its real size. You also probably wondered if there was a way you could pack your fluffy, space-hogging clothes and comforters into flat bags like that. Well, what if we told you that it’s possible?

All you need is a vacuum storage kit—a space-saving tool that allows you to compress thick curtains, jackets, linens, or any other soft item into flat packs that you can store on top of each other. These kits come with a handy pump and a bunch of compression bags, which will allow you to store everything from small stuffed toys to fleece blankets that are more apt for the rainy season. Use the pump to draw the air out from inside the bag, and watch as the items inside shrink down to as much as a third of their original size. You can find vacuum storage kits at Shopee or Lazada for around P1000 or below—just make sure that you’re buying from a reputable seller.

Don’t want to splurge that much on a kit? Check out this guide, which makes use of a vacuum cleaner and some trash bags. Just place your blanket or jacket inside the trash bag, suck the air out with the vacuum cleaner, and seal off the bag with a rubber band. Voila! Now you have more storage in your closet—at least until you need to get to your comforters or jackets again.
