3 Creative Ways to Store Your Board Games

You can even use your favorites as decor pieces, too!

Board games are must-haves for bonding nights—and like the popcorn, pizza, and DVDs that remind us of these comfortable family gatherings, these good ol’ things hold a special place in our hearts that an iPad or laptop can never replace. So how do you keep your board game collection in mint condition without losing puzzle pieces and other odds and ends? Roll the dice and read on.

Maximize your walls

Think about it: colorful board games add pops of color to a den or playroom. You can choose new favorites to hang up temporarily, or retire some of your older games to a permanent spot on the wall. The latter will require some DIY work, but this method is great for games missing too many pieces.

Use containers with labels

Getting rid of those boxes can be difficult, but having uniform drawers and storage will reduce the eyesore and make it easier to start setting up your games. Card games, on the other hand, can be placed in plastic bins for convenience.

Use an old coffee table

Repurpose a coffee table into the ultimate board game companion by painting the top surface with chalkboard paint. With this idea, it's easier to remember who’s getting Monopoly bragging rights.

RL Tip: Move the competition from one room to another by working with an old bar cart or rolling table. Update the look of your piece by painting it with your chosen shade or using colorful washi tape.
