5 Tips For Organizing Toy Collections

Action toy figures, comic books, movie memorabilia—they are not fine China, but should be displayed and handled carefully as well. After all, big boy and big girl toys don't come cheap! To help you make your collector's items last for a few decades (or even more!), here are some maintenance tips you can try:

1. Purge your collection. 

You have to prioritize certain pieces you want to keep. Consider letting go of pieces that no longer have personal or financial value. If you don't want them to go to waste, consider holding a swap party with your friends who share the same interest. 

2. Display your treasure as a focal point at home. 

Identify what you love the most, and keep it in a spot where you can see it first. Take it a notch higher by allocating a shelf or a glass case to showcase your treasures.

3. Store your collections properly. 

Some collectibles come in sturdy boxes, but for those that don't, you should invest in ready-made cases. Otherwise, you can source for something similar at department stores.

4. Clean your collection regularly. 

Dust, moisture and the elements can destroy pieces in your collection. Take extra care of them by dusting them regularly. You can also consider storing delicate comic books in comic book bags which are available online.  

5. Update and rearrange pieces every now and then. 

If you keep your collection in the same arrangement forever, it might turn dull and boring. Spruce up your space by moving pieces around to create fresh visual interest.
