5 Steps to Organizing the TV Room
You won't spend an eternity looking for the remote control anymore!
Most of us look forward to plopping down on the sofa to watch our favorite shows or movies after a long, tiring day at work. But as tempting as it is to simply get up while the credits are rolling, doing so will leave the room in a mess—something that you don't want to see the following day. In order to avoid this, here are five easy ways on how to keep your TV room clean and organized:
1. Create a specific place for the remote control.
And don't forget to put it there after watching TV. A fabric remote control holder with pockets is a clever storage solution as you can simply insert it between your sofa seat cushion and frame. You can also put a tray or a basket on the coffee table as catchall for your remote control.
2. Assign a snack corner.
Place your packets of chips, bowls of popcorn, and drinks on your coffee table or side table that will act as your buffet table. If you're having friends over for a TV marathon, place small bowls or saucers where they can put their selected snacks, and ask them to return these on your makeshift buffet table to minimize mess.
3. Place your magazines and newspapers on a rack.
Don't leave your magazines and newspapers lying around. Some coffee tables have a spot underneath where you can keep a couple of reads. You can also put your magazines and newspapers inside a basket. Place the basket beside your sofa so you can simply pull out a magazine or two to read while lounging around.
4. Make your TV room stylish and attractive by putting simple decor.
It can be photo frames or simple artwork placed on a ledge above the TV, or small vignettes on your coffee table or side table. Just don't over do it to avoid clutter.
5. Cozy up the room with a variety of seating pieces.
Put an area rug to define the seating area. Place beanbags and floor pillows for your friends to plop on. Don't forget to put throw pillows on your sofa to make it extra comfy. These will also come in handy—especially if you are fond of watching trillers and horror films.
