5 Items In Your Closet To Throw Out Immediately

Aside from books and travel souvenirs, the closet is probably one of the most tedious spots to declutter—a lot of us tend to have a difficult time passing on clothes as we associate it with special memories. While this is perfectly understandable, a lot of these items turn into clutter over time and it is safe to assume that no one wants to drown in dusty, unworn garb.

To help you achieve a more streamlined wardrobe, it's vital that you get rid of these things ASAP:  

1. Old costumes

Don't spare any of it—throw out things you wore in school plays, Halloween parties or themed events. Better yet, if you have a local theater group in your area, donate it to the actors so they can put it to good use. 

2. Bridesmaid dresses 

This is a tough one! While the chances of you repeating a wedding outfit are slim, bridesmaid dresses always come with a hefty price tag. Instead of simply throwing or donating these, you might want to try reselling them online.

3. Anything you spent a lot of money on

Be it cute shoes, a bespoke suit or a designer gown—if it doesn't fit or you haven't worn it in over the year, it's best to let it go no matter how much it costs when you got it. These are also potential sale items in case you want to sell your pre-loved things. 

4. College or company t-shirts 

Unless you're required to wear it for school or work, it's time to put these to rest. Consider giving it to your neighborhood handyman—he could get a lot of use out of them as working t-shirts. 

5. Everything on your maybe pile

This means all the items you've decided to keep and promised to use from your last decluttering session. If some pieces from this pile have become part of your regular cycle, keep these and let the rest go.
