4 Steps to a Bright and Organized Kitchen

Achieve the dream kitchen that you have always wanted with these ideas

Does your kitchen look plain and boring? You can turn it into a sunny space where you can work efficiently and whip up delicious meals! Interior designer Andrew Galano shares four helpful tips that may just help you renovate your kitchen:

Focus on lighting

“The kitchen should be one of the brightest [areas] since it’s used for preparing food,” shares Andrew. It's essential to install quality ceiling lights to make preparation easier. You can also maximize the window—if you have one in the area, by keeping it open to let natural light into the space.

Opt for colorful backsplashes

An all-white kitchen looks clean and pristine. However, if you want to add a bit of color to your space, go for vibrant backsplashes in orange or yellow. Colorful backsplashes can help create balance in the kitchen—especially if you have plain walls and cabinets.

Pick built-in cabinets

To conceal your pantry items, pick built-in cabinets installed under and over the kitchen counter. This way, you can hide eyesores and keep the countertop clean. However, don't just dump all of your supplies and utensils inside the cabinets! Use plastic containers and bins to keep these items organized.

Work with the right layout

A limited area can make it harder to keep the kitchen clean and free from clutter. Create an efficient space by working with the perfect layout for your space. When choosing the layout, consider your kitchen routine and habits, the floor area, and the appliances that you have.

RL Tip: An L-shaped layout is great for small condo units.
