Have you ever experienced tediously cleaning your home only to find it dirty again after a couple of hours? We'll let you in on a secret—you're not alone in this struggle. We've all been there, tirelessly dusting every surface possible and then seeing the dust scattered everywhere in just a few days.

Don't worry, you don't have to go through this forever! We found a helpful hack from Apartment Therapy and we are wondering why we haven't thought of it before. It's so simple, all you have to do is run the dustpan under water first.

The next time you sweep your home, try running the top of your dustpan under the kitchen faucet for a minute or two before you tackle the floors. Following the same principle of mud sticking to your skin on a rainy day, the dampness on the surface will keep that gunk in place where it belongs—right inside the dustpan.

If you're afraid that this hack will make it tough to get the dirt out of the dustpan, we've got the answer for that, too. When you're ready to send the debris down the bin, simply grab a paper towel, wipe everything out and you're done!
