White is one of the best choices when it comes to sofas and daybeds, there's no doubt about that—it's simple yet elegant, it goes with most decor styles and it can match any color scheme. However, there is a downfall to this non-hue: it is very difficult to keep it looking pristine.

No need to worry, there is a simple solution that you can do to preserve the beauty of your couch. The secret? Slipcovers. These do a great job of preventing spills and stains from ruining your light-colored fabric, leather, or suede-upholstered sofa. All you need to do is to slide a slipcover over your favorite seating and you're good to go! You can have slipcovers custom-sewn to fit your sofa by your neighborhood seamstress or upholsterer, or opt to purchase a sofa that comes with its own slipcover.

RL Tips:

  • It's best to alternate between two slipcovers. When one of them gets dirty, you can replace it with your spare piece while the other is in the wash.
  • To keep it sanitary, it's best to wash it once a week. This is important if you have furry friends who can leave funky smells sometimes or kids who eat snacks in the living room.
  • Feel free to experiment with color. If you can't find a piece that perfectly pairs with your couch, go with a complementary shade for a unique look.
