5 Ways to Prep the Bathroom for Your Guests

You’ve prepared the food, set the table, and put up the décor for a fun get-together with relatives and friends. After everything you’ve accomplished, we’re sure you’re ready to enjoy the festivities in the company of your loved ones. However, before you dance the night away, you may want to go over your checklist first to make sure you have all areas covered.

Is your bathroom ready to accommodate the partygoers? Do you have enough fresh towels and toiletries? You also need to make sure it stays smelling clean and fresh all throughout the party! Don’t stress, here are easy must-dos to help you out:

1. Brighten it up with blooms.

If you're not into displaying decor in the bathroom, keep it simple with a recycled bottle used as a vase. Flowers can help keep the loo smelling nice while adding a punch of color to the space. Choose blooms in light or bold colors depending on the look you have in mind. If you're worried about flowers wilting, you can work with faux ones that you can place on the counter.

2. Have scented candles as part of a vignette.

Let's admit it, no one wants to use a bathroom that smells funky. Keep it smelling fresh with scented candles, a reed diffuser, or natural deodorizers using ingredients found in your kitchen. Lemon, orange, and eucalyptus are just a few wonders you can work with.

3. Add some holiday cheer.

For a seamless look, you can decorate the bathroom with a few holiday trinkets. Mini trees, tiny snowmans, and other accessories can lighten up the space and give it warmth. To avoid pieces from breaking, opt for plastic ones that you can place by the sink or counter. While we'd all want a little pop of color in the room, you should still make sure that these don't get in the way of bathroom business.

4. Make toiletries presentable and accessible.

Instead of leaving towels, lotions, and hand soaps on the counter—group them together and place it in a woven basket where your guests can easily get and return what they used. Since your guests will be using the bathroom more than once, make sure you prepare a bunch of fresh towels and rolls of toilet paper, too.

5. Don't forget the trash bin.

We don't want used tissue and toilet paper all over the bathroom floor so make sure you place a pretty bin by the toilet bowl or in a corner of your powder room. A pretty or colorful trash can (score a new one without spending much when you visit Daiso Japan!) can catch the eye and still make your space look streamlined. To make disposal easier, you can place a plastic inside the can as well as orange peels to avoid bad smells from taking over.
