5 Uses For Hydrogen Peroxide Around The Home

Many of us know that hydrogen peroxide is a wonder solution. For years, people have been using it to cure ear infections, treat fungus, whiten teeth or to replace chlorine bleach—and just when you think it can't offer more, it does. This highly reactive substance made from a unique ratio of oxygen and water is considered as one of the best household remedies. The best part? It can be maximized in a ton of new ways. Take note of this list of things you can try:

  • Disinfect washcloths and sponges. We've said this a million times before—your cleaning tools need cleaning, too. Soak dirty rags into hydrogen peroxide and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes before washing. 
  • Clean fresh produce. To rid fruits and vegetables of dirt, wax, and other contaminants, lightly spray them with hydrogen peroxide before rinsing it clean with water.

  • Deodorize your refrigerator. Using a washcloth soaked in hydrogen peroxide, wipe the inside of your fridge and leave it for a few minutes. Dry it off using a clean rag before putting the food back. 

  • Cleanse humidifiers and air filters. Add a pint of hydrogen peroxide to one gallon of water and run the solution through your gadgets to remove any prevent mold or mildew growth. 
  • Clean small wounds. Hydrogen peroxide is a natural antiseptic, therefore, it can kill bacteria and prevent further infection.
