Every homeowner has a different routine for cleaning—after all, the way you tidy your home should fit your lifestyle and habits, too. However, there are some things that should follow a certain standard to keep your floors and belongings in mint condition. Aside from shopping for the best mops, brooms, and vacuum cleaners, here are some tips you can try:

1. Wash your pillows.

Yes, you read it right—don’t settle for washing pillowcases, give your fluffy pieces a spin in the washing machine at least thrice a year. If they've turned yellow from sweat, all you need to do is use a magical combo of laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid and a dose of bleach to make them look new again.

2. Clean window screens with a lint roller.

During the summer, all sorts of gunk get stuck on window screens—pollen, leaves, and cobwebs to name a few. Clean them off your windows by passing a lint roller over it before dusting as usual. Do this at least once a week!

3. Remove water spots in sinks and countertops with wax paper.

Do you see water spots and fingerprints on your fixtures and countertops? Add a layer of slippery protection on different surfaces by rubbing some wax paper on everything that gets wet on the daily.

4. For streak-free cleaning, invest in microfiber cloths.

Nobody wants fingermarks, scratches, and water streaks on high-end home pieces. Avoid them by using microfiber cloths as it can clean most surfaces as thoroughly as possible—use them on your car, stainless steel, countertops, and more.

5. Use a special solution for granite countertops.

Make granite last a lifetime by whipping up a gentle and non-acidic spray using equal parts dishwashing liquid, water and rubbing alcohol. Spritz onto counters before drying with a microfiber cloth.
