For those that are looking for something out-of-the-ordinary for their residential, commercial, and office spaces, interior designer Gelo del Mundo is heaven-sent. A graduate of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) and a former part-time junior designer at DESIGN H+Q, Gelo has mastered the ability to create modern eclectic designs by combining traditional and contemporary elements.
In 2011, Gelo bested 20 other contestants and emerged as the winner of the Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) competition. In the final round of the competition, the final two designers were asked to work on a bare two-bedroom condominium unit in less than two months with a budget of only P624,000.
Although the challenge forced him to face three of the most dreaded design problems – limited space, time, and budget – it proved to be no match for Gelo. His “Urban Asian” condo impressed an esteemed panel of judges that included architects Juan Carlo Calma and Arlen de Guzman, interior designers Dr. Raquel Florendo, Jiro Estaniel, and Michael Pizarro, and urban planner and TV personality Daphne Oseña-Paez.
Gelo is also a recipient of PSID Alumni Association Outstanding Achievement award.
