4 Things to Look For in a Condo Home in the City
Take note of this city dwelling checklist
Living in Metro Manila can be an exciting experience, what with all the sights and sounds it has to offer. But given the fast-paced lifestyle, it can be pretty daunting.
Real Living’s managing editor Sunshine Selga Funa—a bona-fide condo dweller—lists down things that you need to look for when house hunting in the city:
“Living in a community that has commercial establishments within reach is a must if you want to maximize city living. There will always be an option to eat out in case you’re too tired to cook. Or, come weekend, you can instantly grab tickets to a movie for some much needed R&R. Also, it’s easy to do last-minute grocery shopping whenever you feel like whipping up a home-cooked meal,” Sunshine shares.
Safety and Security
These are two things that you should never compromise. “Make sure that the development you choose offers round-the-clock security service so that you won’t have to worry about leaving home, especially when you’re off to a vacation,” Sunshine advises.
But that doesn’t mean you’ll just leave everything to the hands of your development’s security guards. Always double-check everything before leaving your house. Keep your possessions secure, and remember to follow the rules (e.g., submit to regular checkups of sprinklers, don’t use gas stoves if you’re required to use electric cook tops).
It’s always best to choose a development that is not too far from your work place or your kids’ school, so that it’s easy for you to shuffle to and from one place to another. “Whether you’re commuting or driving to work, having a handful of optional routes can save you from the stress of dealing with the metro’s monstrous traffic these days, especially now that it’s the holidays,” she advises.
A reputable developer
“Having an efficient administration, particularly in condos, is a must. That ensures fewer headaches on your end if you need certain issues, like leaking faucets or rowdy neighbors, addressed urgently. An efficient condo admin also means that common areas are not neglected, as they (i.e., the administration) make sure these are well-maintained. That also means your association dues are working for you,” Sunshine adds.
