3 Ways to Achieve a Fairy Tale Bedroom
Feel like royalty in your personal space
How many times have you wished for a fairy tale bedroom when you were young? We're sure that at one point in your life, you've dreamed of Princess Jasmine's bejeweled bedroom or just recently, Queen Elsa's majestic ice palace. You can actually use these fairy tale settings as design pegs for your space. In fact, you can learn a lot from your favorite story!
Start creating your own (or one for your child) magical bedroom without the cheesy undertones with the help of these tips:
Forego the pastels
Bright pinks, purples, and pastels can be gaudy. Go for muted tones and neutrals, or white, for an adult-friendly color palette. You will be surprised how pretty these tones look once you pair them together.
Add grown-up furniture
Don’t go for plastic, kiddie furniture because it will make the room look tacky. Use sophisticated, adult-size furnishings that even children can appreciate and grow up with. Moreover, go for materials that can last for a long time like wood or stone.
Don’t use obvious cartoon characters
These easily date and can cheapen your room (or even your kid’s play area). Use visual and textural allusions to the story or character instead. If you want to spruce up a plain wall, use wall decals to fill up the empty space.
