When starting a life together, one of the most important decisions a couple has to make is agreeing on where to build a home. For Michelle Tennant and Andy Knight, it was the Central District in Hong Kong—the only problem was that it is incredibly expensive to live in the heart of the city. Their solution? Purchasing a 29sqm (309 square feet) flat and transitioning to small space living.

With help from the innovative team of LAAB Architectural Firm, they were able to create a beautiful and functional home. They used the form follows time philosophy in designing the space, meaning that a space will open up depending on the purpose or intention of the dweller.

Believe it or not, this tiny haven packs a kitchen, a bathroom with a tub, a makeshift gym, a mini-theater, and a bedroom under one roof. Since the owners live with three cats, it's also pet-friendly! The designers integrated a catwalk, a ladder, hidden food trays, a den, and even a built-in litter box, into the space. The bonus? It is fitted with smart bulbs and lock which the owners can control using a phone app.
