This 65sqm Apartment Lets You Share Space With Strangers

The home is said to be an experiment on flexible coexistence

Having lived in the metropolis where rent is high and necessities are steep, Mike Davies of Studio P10 took it upon himself to find a cheaper alternative to city living. Together with his architect friends Miguel Angel and Elodie Grammont of Miel Arquitectos, they came up with nearly-independent studio apartments

The idea was to take a small space (in this case, a 65sqm or 700sqft apartment) and turn it into two separate "houses" that focus on the basic requirements of sleep, work, relaxation and hygiene. Except for a shared kitchen and dining area, each side has its own bathroom with a shower, workspace, bedroom, and a lofted lounge.

It also has semi-translucent doors which can be locked for privacy and a second wooden one for acoustic insulation. During the day each inhabitant can  secure their space without blocking natural light while at night, both can isolate and cocoon the units by sliding the solid doors.
