This 40sqm Apartment Features Half-Walls and Neutral Colors

It also has smart small space solutions that you’d love to recreate

It’s always a treat to look at different small homes. With each space featuring a clever idea or exceptional design, you’ll never run out of ideas you would want to try in your own compact haven.

In this 40sqm apartment in Lviv, Ukraine, designers Roman Verbishchuk, Yulianna Verba, and Lubov Lazoriv were able to incorporate different elements without sacrificing function and style. We checked out the space and listed down a couple of things that we loved. You may also want to take note of these when it’s time to build your own dream home:

Many tiny homes choose an open layout to achieve an airy vibe and there are a few who’d rather use pieces of furniture as dividers. In this unit, captivating half-walls were utilized. These helped define areas without totally closing out the spaces—avoiding a cramped look.

The dreamy kitchen is something that we’d all love to have in our homes! To create a seamless look from one area to another, the same gray shade can be seen on the walls. Varying wood shades can also be seen on the floor and cabinets to match the décor of the wall separating the kitchen from the living spaces.

To separate the bedroom from the living area, a half-glass wall was added. The bed was also raised on a platform and the floor features another stain to differentiate it from the rest of the home.

Adding warmth and character to the sleeping nook are wall-mounted lamps and framed prints. The huge floor-to-ceiling cabinet serves as storage for clothes and accessories.

The patterned tiles in neutral shades make the bathroom/laundry area stand out. A glass wall separates the tub from the rest of the space without losing the airy feel. Shelves and cabinets help keep things in place and avoid clutter.

RL Tip: If you're not too keen on using patterned tiles, you can always experiment with tinted grout to liven up the bathroom.
