These Are The 2017 Design Trends You Can Still Work On
It’s never too late to update your space with these color and product picks
They say the only constant thing in life is change—and this applies to trends, too. While we’re already halfway through the year, you can still explore the possibilities of incorporating 2017’s hottest picks into your home’s look. Whether you’re thinking of a color upgrade or a décor revamp, there’s a lot you can do to style your space to the nines. Get started with these ideas:
Explore a new color palette.
Whether you're going for a vintage-inspired aesthetic or a minimalist look, muted pastels and sophisticated neutrals are your best bets. Check out the Technology color combinations from the Boysen Color Trend 2017. The silvery gray can serve as a backdrop for your colorful accessories; while a lemon yellow pick can liven up a neutral space.
Colors to check out from the Technology collection: Crystal Sparkle, Pocket Rocket, Space Encounter, Glow with the Flow, Techy Romantic, and Shimmer Shake.
RL Tip: Use one or two predominant muted tints and the others accents. Achieve depth by throwing in a contrasting color like white, gray, or black.

If you love working with bright colors like Greenery, the Minimalist palette of Boysen can help you achieve balance. Resonating with the Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2017, it showcases rich neutrals like teal, beige, sand, dark brown, and black.
Colors to check out from the Minimal collection: Underground Harbor, Barenaked, Basic Blend, Tinderbox, Dapper Dan, and Genuine Article.
RL Tip: The best thing about neutrals is you can use it in any space. Consider using teal as accent and incorporate the others through big furnishings.

Use Greenery as your focal point.
Many of us look forward to the yearly announcement of the Color of the Year. Greenery came as a refreshing surprise as it represents new beginnings and our yearning to reconnect with each other and with nature.
RL Tip: Instead of pairing it with the expected summery white backdrop, let this green shade stand out on its own against a palette of darks. Accompany it with real plants—the darker the pigment, the better—to intensify the shade.
Update your lighting pieces.
According to the Sebring Services website, a softer, matte gold will feature in lampshades, while Edison-type bulbs will still be popular well into 2017. Opt for lighting fixtures in basic colors like black, white, and copper in a sophisticated matte finish, sprinkled with metallic accents like rose gold. If you're not a fan of statement lights, you can look into having industrial-cool filament LED bulbs and cage lights.
RL Tip: Whether you're working on a minimalist, industrial, or rustic theme—you have a variety of lights to choose from! Create a statement by grouping together three or pieces in varying heights.
Get creative with new finishes and materials.
We've seen the rise in popularity of faux finishes as well as engineered and nature-identical versions of popular finishes like Carrara marble. It's safe to say that these options are easy on the pocket and practical, too. You can also look into having texture-rich materials.
RL Tip: Update your couch with pillows that have pleats, tucks, and flounces if you're not ready to invest in furniture pieces with tactile details and patterns. Choose tabletop items with faux finishes if you don't plan on getting a table in marble or real wood. You can also pair marble with wood for a warm-meets-cool setup.
