Spruce Up Your Kitchen And Bath

Here are easy and stylish ways on how to do that

The kitchen and bathroom are the most hardworking areas in your home. Give them some love by turning them into stylish and functional nooks. Here are some ideas:

1. Install a wall-to-wall mirror.

This tried-and-tested trick visually enlarges a small space, as it does in this Nostalgi Enclave model unit. Floating shelves keep the area clutter-free.

2. Add some greens.

Inject life into a drab bathroom by bringing in some plants. Take a cue from this bathroom at Avellana Art Gallery. Palm fronds in a vase add an outdoorsy element to the space. If you're putting plants in your bathroom, take them out once a week and let them soak up some sun and fresh air.

3. Mix different styles.

In this kitchen, modern and country styles mingle well. French provincial elements, like lined kitchen towels and rustic, wooden stools, add charm and texture to the clean and sleek look exuded by the streamlined cabinetry and granite countertops.

4. Don't scrimp on details.

Despite the compact size of this powder room, decorator Elle Uy-Aguell made it interesting by installing white wainscoting, dressing up the wall with damask wallpaper, and placing a chandelier to punctuate the space with glam.

5. Choose a bold accent color.

If you want to add punch to an all-white bathroom, don't be afraid to use vibrant hues. The teal dresser in this powder room at Sticks showroom spells the difference between a plain space and a stylish one. You can also freshen up your powder room with your favorite scent.

6. Display your kitchen appliances and utensils.

Doing so will keep your kitchen countertops from looking bare. Just make sure your appliances and utensils are lined up neatly to avoid clutter.
