Shop of the Week: Home Makeovers

“Mahilig kami magpaganda [ng bahay],” says interior designer and Home Makeovers owner Andrew Galutera of the beginnings of this store. He and his partner, jeweler and businesswoman Celi Sy Sarabia, worked together for  the latter’s hotels and other projects, and their interest in interiors prompted them to set up shop.

“We want our clients to be happy and turn their houses [into something that looks like] minakeover,” says Andrew, hence the name of the store. “We have modern European, Neo-Baroque, [and] modern Italian. We also have sorts of classics with a [modern] twist.” Items are imported from selected countries and are arranged in charming vignettes in this 240-sqm store. Pieces are unique, and some are truly bold and eye-catching, like the 6-ft Repro Wing Chair (P47,500), Teal Dining Chair, P17,000, and Floral Upholstered Sofa (P75,700). They even carry kneelers for P7,800 (big) and P6,500 (small), and offer free interior decorating for their clients. Wall coverings from Best and Zaccariotto Cucine kitchen fittings are also available. They also work with artist Gina Bocar for some of the designs.

Home Makeovers was off to a good start, with the store having good sales, swift turnovers, and a steady stream of interior designers and homeowners coming in just in their first month. Andrew hopes that their now three-month old store will be “bigger and better” in the future. “Hopefully, we can go international,” he says.
