If you are looking for a furniture store that promotes local products, HoliCOW, short for Holistic Coalition of the Willing, is the one-stop shop for you. The shop aims to bring to the local market well-designed furniture and accessories that are all sustainable. This may sound lofty, but with HoliCOW’s more than 12 different partners and designers collaborating with them, this mission is quite doable.

“We decided to strengthen the local market by exposing the local market,” explains HoliCOW’s brand manager Kae Batiquin. “Normally, the export market doesn’t like to sell to the local market… because they do bulk and it’s too much of a hassle to make one-offs or small quantities, but we thought we could do it if we all come together as one group."

HoliCOW’s pieces are surprisingly affordable, considering they produce ones with exceptional quality and many are made by noted designers such as Vito Selma, Debbie Palao, Hacienda Crafts, and Wataru Sakuma. The prices are kept competitive to reach more people who can appreciate the store’s advocacies.

Go around the store and you’ll be surprised how committed they are with their advocacy. They make sure all of the items conform to a certain standard—they should be made of sustainable materials, manufactured using a low carbon footprint, and ideally be beneficial for small scale industries.
