Easy Tricks To Spice Up Your Shelves
Achieve #shelfgoals in no time
Make your shelves more interesting by mixing your favorite reads with quirky decor. Here are some ideas:
1. Give your books and decor some space.
Use bookends to hold your books steady. Then, intersperse them with small knickknacks. By doing so, you keep your shelf from looking too heavy, especially if it is made of dark wood.
2. Use your shelf for storing different items other than books.
Take a cue from Hey Kessy's owner Mansy Abesamis. The white shelf suits the bright and airy feel of Mansy's workspace. Aside from books, she also stored and displayed her craft materials and magazines on her shelf. Small accessories add a playful touch.
3. Enclose your shelves in glass.
If you're displaying your precious collection, cover your shelves with glass to protect your favorite items from dust. Paint your shelves (or niches!) with a bright color to deliver more impact.
4. Alternate stacks of books with books placed vertically.
If you have a slim shelf and you can't put spaces between your books, group your favorites by height and alternate stacks with vertically arranged ones. This will keep your shelf from looking monotonous and formal.
5. Go minimalist.
If you're going for a clean, modern look, choose a few of your favorite books and knickknacks, then display these on your shelf. If you have something new to display, take out a few items from your shelf first before displaying new ones. Doing so will keep your shelf looking clean and uncluttered.
