Q. How do I choose the right rug and rug color for each room? —Mrs. A. De Leon
A. Consider the function of each room. Rug piles vary, and the shaggy ones are commonly used for bedroom spaces. Loop piles are good for home offices, and cut piles work well in living spaces. What is the character of the house? What is the style of furniture? These questions may aid you to decide on the color, and whether to go for cotton, silk, leather, or synthetic rugs. —Hannah Acab-Faustino, interior designer
Q. If I want to spruce up my room, what do I invest in? I currently have a dark wood bed, built-in cabinet and shelves, a colorful striped rug, an ugly black side table, and a white sculptural lamp. —Lana, Mandaluyong City
A. I can feel that you HATE that black side table. You are also not afraid of color since you have that striped rug. Paint one of your walls an accent color and give that side table a much-needed makeover.—Maica Rivera, interior designer
